Dog sledding in Geilo
Experience true winter magic

Geilo mushing consists of three kennels with dog sledders, who have a long experience in tourist and competition sledding. We strive to offer unforgettable experiences with our huskies in spectacular nature. We place animal welfare at the center, and have well-trained and cared for four-legged friends, who love to run. Many of our dogs participate annually in races such as Femundløpet and Finnmarksløpet. Together we offer the perfect combination of adventure, culture and nature experiences, and hope that you will want to join us in experiencing this.
Dog sledding with us takes place in the winter, in all weather conditions – so dress accordingly. It is important to have a windproof jacket and pants, hat, mittens/gloves, warm, sturdy shoes and glasses in case of wind or snow. If you are unsure whether you have dressed warmly enough, it is better to bring a little too much than a little too little clothing.
Dog sledding takes place outdoors and the weather therefore plays a big role. If it is irresponsible to carry out the trip, you risk the trip being canceled until immediately before. If we cancel the dog sledding, you will be refunded the amount you have paid (minus booking fees).
If you cancel up to seven days before the scheduled trip, you will receive a full refund of the amount paid (minus booking fees). If you cancel six to two days before the scheduled trip, you will receive a 50% refund. If you cancel the day before or on the same day, you will not receive a refund of the amount paid.
Everyone is different, some children are perfectly capable of driving the team themselves with an adult sitting in the sled. This is individual, and it is therefore important to listen to your guide and follow the guidelines the guide sets. We put safety first, but it is also nice to be able to challenge both parents and children, by letting the younger ones get involved and have a go.
YES! Dog sledding is suitable for everyone!
It may be an advantage to be in good physical shape if you are going to drive the sled yourself. We move in rough winter terrain, where it is important to be able to keep your balance.
We adapt the trip to your needs, please let us know if there is a need for additional arrangements.
Our dogs are Alaskan Husky, a unique mixed breed, specially bred to pull and transport sleds through the beautiful but demanding terrain of winter. These working dogs thrive best when they get to use their amazing pulling power and feel the wind in their fur.
Our dogs come from three different kennels; Dream Team Sleddogs, Kennel Lureplass and Kennel Huskynerd. Here, all the dogs have their own house where they can retreat, as well as large running yards where they can romp and play freely. For us, the dogs are an extended part of the family – we spend many hours every day with them. We train, cuddle, feed, pick up dung and care for them. We want to have loving, social and trusting dogs.
The combination of training, socialization and love ensures robust yet friendly dogs, who love attention and cuddles.
Getting to know our four-legged heroes is a big part of the experience with us. Together you will embark on a wonderful trip with a real closeness to both nature and animals.
